Sakura @ Shinjuku Gyoen by Rob Shaw (BFL)
Sakura @ Shinjuku Gyoen, a photo by Rob Shaw (BFL) on Flickr.

Enjoying the sunshine and alcohol-free pleasantry in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, once the imperial gardens. This is just 1 of about 1,500 cherry trees (sakura) that blossom every late March/early April. What you don’t see underneath this tree are the throngs of Japanese with blue tarps, staking out prized picnic spots beneath the pink canopy of the sakura.
